DALLAS – Dal-Tile Corporation celebrates its 75th anniversary in 2022. The company started in 1947 as the Dallas Ceramic Company. Today a division of Mohawk Industries, it grew from a one-building operation to currently support 300 company-owned sales service centers, stone slab yards and design studios. The company also sells through independent distributors and home retail centers. Currently, it offers materials from 1” mosaic tiles to 11’ quartz slabs. The company expanded into U.S. production of quartz surfaces in 2019.
SYDNEY, Australia – The New South Wales state government has announced a new industry safety standard on silicosis. The regulations, which went into effect in February, target a near-epidemic level of lung disease among engineered-stone fabricators. A government study confirmed a substantial increase of workers contracting the disease between 2006 and 2019. The new regulations include illustrations on proper working conditions, health monitoring and a chain of responsibility from manufacturers to end users.
