Winner
Lakefront Retreat Evanston, Ill.
Designer Tim Benz and a crew from Evanston, Ill.-based Nature’s Perspective Landscaping, earned plaudits for their use of natural stone at a local residence adjacent to Lake Michigan. It's a curtain call for the location and the HNA Awards; Nature's Perspective received recognition in 2016 for the front driveway.
The long-time client called Benz in to provide an entertainment area next to the lake, and clean up damage left by semis bringing in materials for a beach-repair project.
Utilizing Chilton Stone from Valders Stone & Marble of Valders, Wis., the project includes a patio with firepit, spa, seat wall, outdoor shower and boat storage. Most of the patio is sand-set with close joints, which expand for the boat-storage area, facilitating drainage.
