WASHINGTON – The U.S. Commerce Department’s review of unfair-trade tariffs on quartz surfaces from India recommends an increase from less than 4% to more than 160% for most of the 51 Indian companies selling quartz surfaces to the U.S. The duties are an average of revised tariffs for two entities – Pokarna Engineered Stone Limited (PESL), which went to 0%, and a group of three companies where the duties went to 323.12%.
OBERLIN, Ohio – The Natural Stone Institute looks outdoors by endorsing the Hardscape North America (HNA) tradeshow in October. The event, held annually in Louisville, Ky., is the leading U.S. tradeshow for hardscape contractors, dealers and landscape professionals. This year, the institute plans to organize a natural-stone pavilion and jury the HNA natural-stone awards entries, and institute members will receive discounts on attendee education and/or exhibiting. The institute’s role will expand in 2023.
