SFA: What's the Answer?
Fingerprints on a Honed Surface
Granite Guys
Has anyone had problems with fingerprints not coming out of Black Absolute honed? What do you do?

Stop touching it.

I'm sure the customer will love that advice. 😅

Enhance with Akemi Darkener Super and 24 hours later seal over with Akemi Nano Effect. If customer wants to keep the honed color of BA, they will need to adjust expectations as the skin oils sit on top of the stone. They need to clean. Can seal with Akemi Nano Effect to ease the cleaning, but nothing will prevent the oils from laying on top of the surface.

Obviously, all the employees should have their fingerprints burned off.

I had this issue about 14 years ago and we ended up taking it out and using another stone.

Use AquaMix Enrich 'N' Sealâ„¢. Apply, wipe thoroughly dry. Should help with fingerprints

I've used carburetor cleaner on honed Taj Mahal for fingerprints and it worked great.

This is why we discourage customers from this material ... it will always be an issue ... it never goes away ....

Haven't installed Indian black for over 20 years. Too many issues.

Use Method Daily granite cleaner every time they wipe the tops. It creates a patina over time that stops the fingerprints from showing.

I’ve had success in the past with AquaMix Nanoscrub on that particular material. In the end, I cleaned all the material with it to get the same consistency. If you do end up trying it out, just make sure to shake the bottle up good before applying. It separates out when it’s been sitting for a while. Similar to a bottle of Soft Scrub.®

Enhance it.

I've used Krud Kutter successfully. On another note, anytime anyone is looking at ANY honed material, I ask them to remember what it was like when they were a kid and touched the blackboard at school. It's the perfect example of honed material that nearly everyone has had experience with.
Lucas Sheard
Enhance it.

Dish soap and water, light scrub brush.
