WASHINGTON – Turkey agreed in late November to alter its digital-services tax, ending the threat of U.S. tariffs on Turkish tile and natural stone. Turkey will join five other countries in a compromise agreement to halt taxation on digital services. In return, the U.S. called off imposition of reactive tariffs against a range of Turkish goods, including some categories of natural stone and ceramic tile. Those products alone had a value in 2020 or more than $115 million.
LE SUEUR, Minn. – Cambria is adding another production line at its quartz-surface manufacturing facility here. Completion is set for June. The 50,000 ft² addition will house a “make” line for quartz-surface slabs and a polishing line for finishing the product. Work on the expansion began back in March. To operate the expanded facility, Cambria is expected to add 110 more positions to its current 530-person workforce. President/CEO Marty Davis says plans are to build another make line starting next summer.
