Can anyone offer some advice to how I could fix this crack in Cambria? (If any.) Client dropped a heavy pot on top. Mike Ganassa Washington Marble & Granite Co.

Drill a small hole to stop the crack then fill it all with epoxy. Aside from replacement or breaking it completely then re-gluing theirs not really too many options. Justin Granite City Alaska

Wipe it with acetone and run some very thin super glue over the crack. Pound on the top a bit to vibrate it in a bit. Hit the super glue with accelerator and scrape off the excess with a porcelain blade. The crack's too tight for epoxy. You'll probably still see it, but at least it won't turn black from contamination. Coop

In my experience, those cracks keep growing. Drilling a hole is a great idea to stop it and then you can make a decent repair. Andy Ross Rock Solid Surfaces Kalamazoo, Mich. 269-372-1777

Mix up a color tint to match the stone and set aside. Use a super thin super glue on the crack but no accelerator. Use a stir stick and dip the corner of it into the color tint you made up. Stir the super glue with your colored stir stick. The color tint will cause the super glue to kick off and it will be colored the correct color so it disappears in the crack, for the most part. Scrape excess off with a razor blade. May need to scrub with Bar Keepers Friend® or Soft Scrub® to remove the metal marks from edges of the crack from the razor blade.

Bar Keepers Friend is aggressive (oxalic acid); if you do use it and the client sees you using it; let the client know NOT to use it on the counter. To limit marks from blades: pour some acetone in a cup and let them soak a few minutes. This dissolves the residual oil from manufacturing leaving a clean dry blade. Good Luck! Rick Graff
